No Button/Joystick recognition on Linux

Tested with a 8Bitdo Gamepad in Ubuntu connected over Bluetooth.
The direction controller works without a problem, but the buttons are dead.

When I use the "Rescan Josticks"-function there is always the message "0 Joystick(s) found" though it's connected on /dev/input/js0.

Re: No Button/Joystick recognition on Linux

Hy dev

Joystick Mode ist a little bit tricky with the 8bitdo Gamepad in Ubuntu.
I had similar issues. What i found out so far:

1. Joystick Mode worked for me only connected over USB cable. Connect the Gamepad with your USB cable and click on "Rescan Joystick". The Message should show now "1 Joystick(s) found". Maybe you need to remap the buttons to the actions now, to use it properly.

2. When I play with Bluetooth connection, I connect the Gamepad in Keyboard mode (Press and hold Start+B on start up). You need to remap each button to the Gamepads layout.

I will later update this post and will add a screenshot of my key mappings to show you how I play with my Gamepad.

I hope this will help you.

Works great in Keyboard mode smile
Now we just need joystick-navigation in the main menu wink
